DIY Fall Design Tips for Your Curb Appeal
Now that fall is here, it’s the perfect time to set up the outside of your home with fall decorations. Sprucing up your replacement windows and doors with some simple and unique designs can be the perfect way to begin the season and get excited for scarves, sweaters and pumpkin spice lattes.
Enhance your curb appeal this fall with these fun décor projects that are easy, unique and on-trend:
Project #1: Corn Husk Garland
This project will add fantastic curb appeal to your home’s windows or doors, depending on where you would like to place the garland. Wherever you end up putting it, all this project takes is a few easy steps: decide how long you want the rope (outlining your windows or door) with a few added inches to get a droopy effect, and affix corn husks to the rope with a hot glue gun. Put up your new garland to highlight your home access points!
Project #2: Door Wreath
Incorporate all the warm colors of fall into a DIY wreath to display on your door. You’ll need a wooden stick wreath, burlap, artificial fall foliage, scissors and a glue gun. Here is the process: Cut the burlap into four 4x4-inch squares. Then, fold and glue the burlap squares around the wreath while gluing foliage in between the burlap sections.
Project #3: Welcome Sign
Make your home look warm and inviting this fall with a blackboard “Welcome” or “Happy Fall” sign outside of your door. Remind passersby what the season is really about and draw interest toward your festive fall entryway.
While adding fun DIY projects to the outside of your home is a simple way to get into the season spirit, don’t forget to prepare your replacement doors and windows for the cooler weather, too. They will look fantastic, but if your doors and windows are old or unprepared for the impending winter weather, they could let in cold drafts and leave you feeling pretty uncomfortable in the upcoming months.
